Though I checked my e-mail and did not see what you sent on 3/3 or 3/8, not even in the SPAM folder. Anyway what I wanted to know is if you know of any instances before when this had happened to a 2.4 Ghz Mid-2010 Mac Mini and if there is a known solution. Basically, when I replace the 8GB with the 16GB, the Mini just attempts to start and a red light inside the earphone input socket lights up then turns off with the Mac Mini making a very faint “POWER OFF” sound.” Any clue what it might be? Living in Asia at the moment makes it hard for us to connect.

Spending the money (hopefully) where it counts! After some googling around I came to the conclusion that I should aim for the least amount of RAM from Apple as possible, because it's really the simplest component to upgrade yourself and Apple charges an extra $ or so dollars for 64GB of their RAM v.s. An upgrade kit like this OWC! It was really a no-brainer.
OWC even sends a little tool to help you access the Mac Pro memory where Apple would just suggest using your fingers. Forget using fingers! This Mac is a 5k investment, LOL, I'm gonna treat it with some respect.

Maximum Memory Recommended for OS X Lion Users While Apple’s official minimum RAM requirement for OS X Lion is 2GB, industry experts agree 4GB of RAM is the minimum that should be installed for optimum performance of typical daily computer usage. For more advanced uses such as graphics production, A/V editing, and/or running a virtual machine, 8GB and more installed RAM is highly recommended for maximum performance benefit. “ We’re quite pleased to offer owners of these specific 2010 machines the ability to double the amount of memory previously thought to be the maximum,” said Larry O’Connor, Founder and CEO, Other World Computing. “ Adding more memory is one of the easiest and most cost effective upgrades a computer owner can make. It allows applications to operate more efficiently by unleashing the processing power of any machine.”. I’ve got the 16gb kit in my mid 2010 macbook pro, and it’d been working as 16gb, showed up in the about this mac info, and i was running sierra. Not sure when it happened, but now my macbook only shows 8gb of ram and is treating the second slot as if it is empty.
